Captain's Log:
Another long day at work, with not too much accomplished this time around. I was able to make some more revisions on the Intranet web page, but nothing big.
Sports: We have climbed into second place in the medal count; trailing Germany by four.
News: The two people who were connected with the robbery of the British bank in Kent county. It seems they stole $87 million dollars. Apparently they dressed as police officers and entered the bank yesterday, holding it up, and then making a successful getaway. Unfortunately for them, not successful enough.
News: A father is accused of murdering his daughter's boyfriend. Before you condemn him, wait for the facts. She was 14, and he was 27... After "professing his love for her" he stated that he wanted to take her to Mexico. The father, upon hearing this, killed him...right on.
Anyway, in other news, I keep hearing about this port situation where we are going to allow foreign, Arab countries to come in and run our shipping ports (6 of them). President Bush is maintaining that we need to give these people the contract so as to maintain friendly relations with this country. The rest of the legislature in Washington is not so sure. Although the President said he would veto any attempt to stop the sale of the contracts to this Arab company, the Senate remains confident that they will have a two-thirds majority to overturn the veto. I do not yet know where I stand on this because I have only just started looking into the situation. Yes, we need to retain our friends in the Middle East, since we have few; but at what cost? I think this President is doing a great job running our country; however, do we want to allow this door to be open to non-Americans? This company may be legitimate right now, but five or ten years down the road, when we get lax again, someone who has infiltrated the system at the port will import a weapon of mass destruction to be released on our country. We will have to wait and see what the President decides to do about this dilemma, but right now, it appears that he is backing it 100%.
Movies: I just finished watching Red Eye, which was very good. Very well done.
Of course, I watched some of Wedding Crashers last night. Always a good movie. Also, a good site to check out, is the Chazz Reingold website. This website is full of rules and wedding crashing tips. Very funny.
All right, enough advice and political discussion. I will be back tomorrow...maybe.
Later,
Lorimer
