Captain's Log:

I am writing to you from my center monitor, and I am viewing my mail on my right and my music on my left. Three monitors is the only way to go. I got all three in the mail today, rather than just the one I thought that I was going to get. So, instead of writing a really long blog tonight, I will be tweaking the three monitors I have set up.

Captain's Log:

Friday is almost here...praise the Lord. Though tomorrow is the science fair, and I will be especially glad when that is over. However, tomorrow is the day my first monitor should arrive. That will be nice. I can replace this massive beast on my desk with a sleek widescreen. Sweet.

My cousin Jordan has joined the marines...what an idiot. He picked the marines over the Air Force. I am thinking about driving out to Kansas right now and shooting him in the face with a beanbag gun or a taser. Jordan, if you are reading this, that means I have not found the time to make my way to your house yet...but I am coming...

I am still thinking about the Air Force myself, but that will not be for another two years, because I have to finish my degree first. I am going to get a commission if I go into the military.

Speaking of school, I applied to UCF today and should get some notification back in about a month so that I can start in the Fall. That will be good. Hopefully I can hurry through my degree and get it done. It will be nice to get a permanent job, or have the option to join the Air Force.

I was able to talk to Mark yesterday, and beat him in Fifa 4-0. That was good to be able to talk to him, since we have not talked in a long time.

This is my fifth post in a row...record...write this down...

Quick news headlines...great stories!

Rabid bat bits six year old boy in Payless
A drug cartel was busted just recently. 52 tons of cocaine were recovered from their headquarters.

Those are the good ones.

You stay classy San Diego,

Captain's Log:

Wow, this will be my fourth day in a row posting on this site...that is amazing.

Anyway, I had a couple things to write about, but I forgot what they were...

Oh yes,

1. I am probably going to Holland next year at the end of July. I will be going to coach a basketball team made up of the most well behaved and talented athletes in Melbourne. The trip will be totally paid for, and all I have to do is watch a couple of teenagers while I am there. More on this story as it develops.

2. One of the monitors that I ordered was shipped yesterday, so I should be recieving that in a couple of days. Then I can replace this massive, hidious CRT on my desk that is hording desktop space.

I believe that is all, though if I think of something else really good before the end of the post, there may be a number three.

Current Events:

I have a few opinions on this immigration issue which is so pervasively invading our newspaper columns and news airtime.

Illegal immigration should be stopped and we should throw all of the illegal immigrants out of the country right now who refuse to become full citizens. Deport them and tell them that if they want to come back, they will have to become an english-speaking citizen of the United States. In no other country in the world is it possible for a group of people to flock to and say, "We are going to need you to change and start placing the text on your product and directions and just about everything in our language so we can live there." When I went to Germany, I saw many Americans getting upset because the Germans that were helping them could not speak English. That is ridiculous. You cannot just walk into someone else's country and expect them to know your language so that you can get what you want. It is fine if they only speak German, that is the language of the country, and they should not have to learn one word in English. Too bad if the American tourist has to learn some German to get by in the country he or she is visiting. I am done with this expose on languages and countries, but this whole immigration thing is ridiculous. If you are not a citizen, either become one or leave.

As far as the NBA playoffs...I don't care.

I am not taking classes this summer...at least I do not think that I am since the final day to sign up for them was last Wednesday...

Day 3 - Munich and Dachau

We left Rothenburg at about 8 in the morning and drove to Munich, where we had lunch and climbed the tallest tower in the city for a Euro...to much if you asked me. I did get some good pictures from up there though. After a couple of hours, we boarded the bus and took off to Dachau, the concentration camp. Very unsettling. We spent three hours there and we toured the grounds and the museum. Once we were through, we climbed onto the bus again and slept our way to Garmish where we were to spend five whole days, touring the countryside and eating in pastry shops (by far the best part). That night, Bro. Jeff gave devotions and the guys quartet sang the song they won the state finals with. I had a hard time keeping Michael in the room that night...mostly because I was asleep when he left. I fixed that the rest of the time, by locking the door from the inside and hiding the key. That worked quite nicely. That is about all for the third day of the trip.

To Be Continued...

All right then, that will be all for now. I will be back; maybe tomorrow, to set a record five straight posts!

Later,

Lorimer

Captain's Log:

Today it rained. Finally, the skies have opened up and God has given us the much needed rain. Hopefully all the brush fires will now be out, and my grass can turn green again. Maybe it will continue to rain for a couple of days.

Today in computer science class I lectured on RSS feeds and the language of html. Yesterday we went over a few MS Office products and some Macromedia products. This is all in preparation for their final June 1. We will see how those go.

I unlocked my fourth of five achievements last night in my FIFA World Cup soccer game. I am working on the last one, but it will take a while. I have also downloaded the demo for Call of Duty 2, and it looks great. I may have to go and get the game, if I find it on sale somewhere. We will see.

My three 19" widescreen flat-panal monitors should be coming in sometime this week. It will be nice having more than one monitor to work with again. I have been going crazy on one.

Slightly more than 24 days remain until the first game of the world cup in Germany. The first game will be Germany vs. Costa Rica. The entire schedule is here. I plan on watching all of England's, Germany's, and America's; and I would love to see Brazil lose.

Christy is in Holland, enjoying herself. This is her last training flight before she graduates at the end of next week. She has also visited Atlanta and Denver on training flight, but could not get off of the plane. Today, she gets the entire day to tour some city over there and then flies back to the US tomorrow. That is very cool.

I am having spaghetti tonight, and since I am very hungry, I think I am going to go and fix it right now.

Maybe tomorrow,

Lorimer

Captain's Log:

This is the twentieth captain's log, a milestone.

Top of the Pods still lacks a new show, and I am very dissapointed. They have not released a new show in six weeks.

In the news, Libya is no longer considered a country that harbors terrorists. We as America are now negotiating a peaceful treaty with this country. That is big news.

I mentioned yesterday that I had purchased the new teamgeist soccer ball that they will be using in the world cup. The ball I bought is just a replica, but here is a picture of the real ball...

And here is a picture of the ball they will be using in the final game...

Tonight is wing night at Longdoggers...not too exciting. I will be relaxing all afternoon, so I think that I am going to go and get started on that. I will be back sometime.

Sometime,

Lorimer

Captain's Log:

I took it easy today, but I did get something accomplished at least. This morning I had church as usual, then the normal Firehouse ritual. Afterwards, I went to my parent's house to eat dinner for my dad and sister are now in town (my dad for the week, and my sister for the summer). My dad is retiring this year in August, so he will be coming to live here after that.

I ran over my parent's neighbor's dog yesterday and killed it. I was pulling out of my parent's driveway and this little dog darts out of nowhere, under my back tire and I squished the life out of it. Today I quoted the Anchorman line, "A small dog clings to life..." but the dog only clung to life for a short while before it died. That was not the best ending to a day.

Robert and Mark now have a 360, which is sweet. I talked to Rob last night and he is good. I hope they are doing alright, and I hope to get up there to see everybody this summer. That will be nice, since I have not been up there in quite some time.

I am doing my last load of laundry for the day...(sigh of relief)...finally finished with that for a while. But today's big event was my trip to Home Depot, where I picked up some baseboard and started doing the trim in my house. I finished 90% of the hall and the closet in the hall. I also started working my way out into the living room. Next sunday, I might finish the hallway and living room...we will see how ambitious I get.

I watched Hoodwinked last night...hilarious movie. Worth seeing again.

I just downloaded and installed Windows Live Messenger. Looks great. One of the great features (which also include video conferencing and voice chat) is the ability to share files through the messenger. Great advancement.

I purchased a replica of the World Cup Match Ball...the Teamgeist...from Dick's sporting goods, which just opened. Great store...great ball. It is not as nice as the 130 dollar ball, but what can you expect for 25 bucks.

I am all finished with college for the semester, and I am looking to find a university at which to finish my degree. Hopefully I can be done soon.

School at Wade ends in two weeks and then we have three days of finals, and then I am done for the year. All I have to do on graduation night is walk the isle and sit in the choir loft. Totally awesome...well it will be once I get there.

I believe that post is long enough for tonight. I will be back soon. Hopefully. How many times have I said that and then not written in about a month...oh well.

Later (I don't know what that means any more),

Captain's Log:

Today was not very eventful. I am not very happy right now about losing in the writing contest I entered into. I found out today that I placed eighth in the top ten...It is ridiculous. Here is the link to the Proteus review, which I have discovered is a load of crap. The winning prose paper looks like someone took a load of crap and smeared it on a piece of paper and turned it in. They must be related to the judges somehow. Ridiculous!

I am going to get a Culligan water cooler for my house soon, so that I have nice water to drink at all times. That will be good.

Top of the Pods has not put out a new show in five weeks. I am disappointed. Hopefully they will put out a new one soon.

I really do not have much more to say, or complain about, so I will say goodnight.

Later,

Lorimer

Captain's Log:

It is very early, and I am going to bed in a minute, but I had to log this thought away before I forgot too. I am going to make a prediction about when the next Harry Potter book is coming out.

July 7, 2007

Reasons:
7th book
7th month
7th year after 2000
7th day of the month
7th day of the week

This day has too many sevens in it to pass up. This is the day she will release the seventh and final book in her bestselling series. I wanted to make sure I documented this before they officially announced the release date.

If I am wrong, which hardly seems possible at this point, I will give up on guessing release dates for books forever.

Until later,

Lorimer
